Deborah's life began on September 10, 1953 in Paw Paw, the daughter of Lewis A. and Bertha M. (Dine) Hively. She was a graduate of Dowagiac Union Schools and Sister Lakes Beauty Academy. She was the owner of The Cut Above Salon in Dowagiac for several years. Deborah was a member of the Calvary Bible Church and the INA Unity Club. Her family includes her children Jennifer Skalla of Mishawaka and Justin Skalla of Orlando, FL, sister Karen Kroboth of Dowagiac, brothers Les (Sandra) Hively and Stanley Hively, all of Niles, niece Laura Kroboth of Dowagiac and nephews Ryan Hively of Dowagiac, and Joshua Hively of South Bend. Deborah passed away on Saturday January 21, 2012 at Cass County Medical Care. She is preceded in death by her parents. Her family will gather with friends on Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where her funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. led by Pastor Robert Vickroy of Calvary Bible Church. She will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be directed Huntington Disease Society of Michigan.
